Chinese scientists develop the robot that replaces dentists

We are in the era where machines threaten virtually any job humans are doing. They thought that the only replacement was going to be in automated tasks, such as accounting, administrative or customer services, to name a few. But the appearance of Yakebot, the first robot dentist of history, makes us think many things.

The dentist robot is a masterpiece of engineeringdeveloped by the company Yakebot Technology, based in Beijing. The CEO of this company is the founder himself, Wang Liffeng.

According to an article by 20 Bitsthe robot was presented at the 53rd Annual Congress of the Spanish Society of Stomatological and Aesthetic Prosthetics (SEPES) held in Seville. He arrived in Iberian lands thanks to the Master’s Degree in Restorative Dentistry based on new technologies at the Complutense University of Madrid.

Yakebot

The professor of this master’s degree, Pablño Xing, says that “Yakebot does not replace the doctor”a statement that is difficult to believe when we see the functions that this machine performs.

Among other things, Yakebot can perform periapical surgery. It is a clinical procedure that involves draining or extracting the nuclei of infections located in the space of the maxillary bones that contains the teeth in formation.

It does this work with the same efficiency as a dentist or even better, since according to Pablo Xing, “it eliminates many problems, especially at the level of vibrations in the hands.”

Yakebot

Being a robot, Yakebot can work faster and more efficiently than a human, which could reduce waiting times for patients, explain the developers of this system.

They explain that whenever the Yakebot works there must be a doctor supervising, but with the rapid advancement of technologies, this seems like the definitive replacement for dentists.
