Chinese research Epstein-Barr virus DNA screening can detect nasopharyngeal carcinoma early 11/7/2023 13:31 A study by the Faculty of Medicine of Chinese University confirmed that “Plasma Epstein-Barr virus DNA” screening can effectively detect nasopharyngeal carcinoma early.
Three to five years after the first round of screening, the research team conducted a second “plasma DNA” screening for the same group of subjects, again successfully diagnosing nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients before they have symptoms, thereby improving their survival rate.
The team also found that in the first round of screening “plasma DNA” test, the participants who were considered to have false positive results were nearly 17 times more likely to be diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma in the second round of screening than those who tested negative, reflecting the relevant non-invasive Diagnostic technology can not only screen out current cancer, but also reflect the risk of future cancer, and help high-risk individuals to conduct closer monitoring.
