Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold a summit with five Central Asian countries on the 18th and 19th.
President Xi invited Kazakhstani President Kassim-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan President Sadir Zafarov, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhammedov, and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the summit.
The leaders will visit China from the 16th to the 20th, and during this period, on the 18th and 19th, they will attend a meeting presided over by President Xi in Xian, Shaanxi Province to discuss ways to develop mutual relations and cooperation.
The summit is the first face-to-face meeting since diplomatic relations were established between China and these five Central Asian countries in 1991, and it has an important meaning in mutual relations, the Chinese official People’s Daily reported.
Previously, at a video summit commemorating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties with these countries in January of last year, President Xi said, “No matter how the international situation changes and how much China develops, China will always be a good neighbor and partner that Central Asian countries can trust and rely on. We will remain friends and brothers.”
