Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in Belgrade

(ANSA) – BELGRADE, MAY 07 – Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Belgrade in the evening, the second stop on his tour of Europe which began on Sunday in Paris. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic himself welcomed him at the airport with full state honors, with whom the Chinese leader will have official talks tomorrow and will witness the signing of around thirty bilateral agreements. After Belgrade, Xi Jinping will conclude his European trip in Budapest. With Vucic to greet the Chinese leader were the new Serbian prime minister Milos Vucevic, the foreign minister Marko Djuric and the president of the parliament Ana Brnabic. A short show of Serbian folk music and dance was staged in honor of the Chinese guest and his wife. Xi Jinping’s visit aims to further strengthen the already close political, economic and trade ties with Serbia, which is China’s main ally and partner in the Balkans. It is expected that tomorrow Xi Jinping will pay tribute to the three Chinese citizens killed exactly 25 years ago in the NATO bombing of Belgrade, during which the Chinese embassy was also hit.
