In July 2023, the Chinese police arrested 22 people involved in the work of the enterprise for cleaning used video cards. Fraudsters laundered and tinted old graphics accelerators, packaged them and sold them under the guise of new ones. It is not known how much exactly the criminals earned on this, but law enforcement officers found video cards worth about two million dollars in the warehouse.

Police officers have been investigating for a year. During this time, they found out that the scammers mainly bought video cards that were previously used for cryptocurrency mining. This allowed attackers to save on the purchase of graphics accelerators in order to earn more.
According to police, it was a complex operation, as the scammers developed a special scheme. According to her, one team of criminals was engaged in the purchase of video cards, the second – cleaning, the third – packaging, and the fourth – sales. Thus, the swindlers managed for a long time not to arouse the suspicion of the police.
As a result of the investigation, law enforcement agencies filed criminal charges against seven members of the group. It is not clear what terms they face.
