Chinese players are unlucky, Fortnite ends in the world’s most populous country

Instead of Fortnita, Epic Games offered a special version of the title called Fortress Night in the world’s most populous country. It was basically the same game, which was only slightly modified to better suit the demands of China.

In the Fortnite title, players take on the role of survivors who fight for their place under the sun with other players in the post-apocalyptic world. The winner is the one who stays last on his feet. It is also possible to play in teams.

This battle royale title is offered for free, but players can buy special clothes, dances or skins. Although these items do not bring any improvements in the game itself, players buy everything in bulk. The creators make billions because of that.

However, Fortress Night differed in this. Since 2018, the game has only run in test mode and any purchases in it have been banned. In addition, the depiction of violence has been reduced in this special version.

Strict regulation

Recently, however, the Chinese authorities are on a “war” campaign against virtually all online games, probably because of this, the Epic Games studio has decided to completely cut the game Fortress Night.

“In China, the battle royale genre is strictly regulated. If such a game is already approved in the most populous country in the world, it has a big change in content compared to the global version, “said analyst Daniel Ahmad from Niko Partners on Twitter, adding that another similar game, PUBG, also got a stop sign in China.

“When Epic brought Fortnite to China, he got a license agreement for x years. It is now clear that the costs of changing, running the game or renewing the license no longer make sense to the company, “explained Ahmad, suddenly ending Fortress Night in China.
