You might think, “It’s all boring shows…”

Lately, China Central Television (CCTV), which is equivalent to “China’s NHK”, has become just like Korean Central Television (KCTV), and there is a lot of really bland reporting.

For example, the first 10 minutes of the main news program “Newspaper Lianban” (Shin Wen Lienbo), which is aired from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m., conveys how “great a presence” General Secretary and President Xi Jinping is. Lately, perhaps because they have run out of material, they have even unearthed Mr. Xi’s “deeds” from when he worked in Fujian Province more than 30 years ago and praised them in the headlines.

The next 10 minutes are about how the Chinese economy is progressing. The factory workers, farmers, and economists who were pointed at the microphone were all smiling.

And the final 10 minutes are about how the world outside of China is full of dire crises. If a shooting incident were to occur in Ukraine, the Middle East, or even the “enemy country” America, it would be reported with great fanfare, as if it were a demon’s head. Recently, there has been a lot of news about the Noto Peninsula earthquake.

However, even though I call myself a China watcher, I also have to follow such news. Oh, how boring!

Just as I was thinking about this, I found a program that made me stop yawning. In Japan, it’s like a “NHK special” program. The title is “Continuing to promote the “Three Fufu” with all our strength and depth.”

In short, this is the final episode of the four-part series (each episode is less than an hour long) of the “Anti-Corruption Campaign”. “Three Fufu” is one of the recent “Xi Jinping sayings” and means “not corrupt, unable to corrupt, and unwilling to be corrupt” (fuwanfu, fuwanfu, fusoufu).
