Beijing – A Chinese millionaire has given ‘work of eight’ to bank employees who provoked him. After withdrawing Rs 6.5 crore from the bank, he demanded that the money be counted by hand following a disagreement with the bank staff. The incident took place in a branch of the Bank of Shanghai during the 2021 Covid.
This week in Shanghai, China, a millionaire named ‘Sunwear’ withdrew his entire savings of 5 million yuan and ordered the bank staff to count every single note. All because they asked him to wear a face mask. He then put the money in suitcases and left

When he reached the bank, he had a fight with the security officer regarding the Covid protocol. After this, he angrily demanded the withdrawal of five million renminbi ($783,000 at 2021 exchange rates) from the account. He said that the money should be counted by hand. It is reported that the footage of bank employees counting bundles of money and him walking out with suitcases full of money went viral on social media that day.
He responded on Chinese social media site Weibo that it took more than two hours for the bank staff to count the money by hand. He said he withdrew the maximum amount he could withdraw in one day and decided to deposit the remaining millions in other banks because of the ‘worst customer service’.
Meanwhile, the bank officials said that there was a difference of opinion because he did not follow the Covid norms. In a statement given by the Bank of Shanghai to the Chinese media, ‘The Paper’, it was clarified that he was not wearing a mask when he entered the branch and this led to the dispute.
