The police in Suriname have arrested a 22-year-old Chinese man in the case in which a caught shoplifter died on Saturday in a clothing store on Dr. Sophie Redmond Street.
The editors of Waterkant.Net learn that the alleged thief Imro G. was known as ‘Rambo’ and was a former acquaintance of the Surinamese police. The 53-year-old man would make a habit of stealing from the store.
On Saturday, Rambo was caught red-handed by the shopkeeper while taking away perfumes. The two got into a struggle during which the thief was hit on the head with a hard object.
Rambo was then put in a chokehold and became unconscious.

After his arrest, 22-year-old ZQ was brought to trial and taken into custody. A 61-year-old woman who was taken to the police station together with ZQ was released after questioning.
Rambo’s lifeless body was seized for autopsy in coordination with the Surinamese Public Prosecution Service. The case has been transferred to the Capital Crimes Unit (KD) for further investigation, which is ongoing.
