Prato, January 30, 2021 – Seven of the fifteen Chinese who tested positive were tracked down by the ASL to Covid-19, but then no longer traceable for having left in some cases fake documents and non-existent telephone numbers at the private Synlab institute, where the oropharyngeal sampling for a fee was performed on 25 January.
The other eight are still unavailable, but the prevention department of the ASL Centro, directed by Renzo Berti, with the public health and prevention office in Prato, does not give up and continues in the research. For this purpose – and also for any future cases – the healthcare company has activated a linguistic mediation service through the switchboard. And although there is a struggle against the reticence of the Chinese community, the ASL has taken a first step by tracing seven of the fifteen “dissolved” into thin air.
The seven Chinese found turned out to be undocumented. Together with them, the ASL has tracked down three other Orientals positive for Covid with tests on January 27. The ten were transferred to the Datini hotel (some of them showed up spontaneously after being tracked down), the health hotel, so that they can be isolated and followed by the health workers of the Usca. The research operation is carried out in collaboration between the Department of Prevention and the Usca. Those who will go into isolation in the health hotel they will have the opportunity to make the Stp card (Foreigners temporarily present), so that they can be entered in the health registry. The ASL has had the opportunity to contact some of the Chinese by telephone: those who answer say that they do not work, that they are observing isolation.
With linguistic mediation it will become easier to make it clear that health care is a right for everyone and that the intent of the ASL is to be able to track their cases and help them get out of the infection. The Department of Prevention and the Office of Hygiene and Public Health of Prato have had the opportunity to speak with representatives of the Chinese community to sensitize their fellow citizens not to be afraid to turn to health services, ready to take care of them whatever their position. in Italy, both as regular and illegal immigrants. And yesterday in the ASL bulletin 15 other Chinese people tested positive for Covid.
On the case of the Chinese infected with the virus and untraceable, politics has risen. Aldo Milone, head of the regional security and immigration department of Forza Italia, wonders how many Chinese “were subjected to checks in the first lockdown”. And it highlights facts of “unprecedented gravity”, such as “a comings and goings of Chinese who, in full lockdown, moved on a bus leaving Prato and arriving in Prato, no one knows where, without the slightest control despite the mayor Biffoni was aware, and not just him. ” Thunders the senator of the Brothers of Italy, Patrizio La Pietra, who defines this “a highly reprehensible attitude” and asks to “clarify and know what the health protocols for private structures require and evaluate the correctness of the procedure”.
Senator La Pietra’s hope is that “the Consulate and the community representatives take charge of this situation. I want to remind you that the giant posters that appeared in Prato during the first wave of the pandemic with messages of solidarity and reassurance were Chinese. an intervention by the judiciary“. Patrizia Ovattoni, Lega Salvini Premier, argues that the case of the” ghost “Chinese although they tested positive at Covid” is unacceptable and a major risk to public health. We applauded the commendable behavior of the Chinese community in the early part of the pandemic but it is not by declaring false data that the problems are solved. We ask for responsibility and clarity from the Chinese community, because having infected and untracked people wandering around the territory could be lethal for the city “.
