The trip was organized by the Unified Agricultural Wine Cooperative of Samos, in collaboration with the National Interprofessional Vine and Wine Organization, aiming to expand the presence of Sami wines in the large Chinese market.
The delegation toured the beautiful mountainous and semi-mountainous vineyards of Samos, where they learned about the biodynamic farming methods used to produce the famous Muscat. Chinese wine lovers had the opportunity to talk directly with the grape growers, get to know their practices and exchange views on the innovative cultivation and winemaking techniques applied on the island. The special character of the Sami vineyards, the natural approach to agriculture and the priority to maintain constant quality, attracted the attention of the visitors.
In addition, the representatives of the media and the influencers were guided to the Wine Museum of Samos, where they came into contact with the rich wine and cultural tradition of the island, which counts over 2,500 years of history. The theme rooms of the museum presented not only the evolution of Sami wine but also the vision for the future, which is inextricably linked to quality and innovation.
The knowledge of the Chinese importers and professionals around Sami Moscato was impressive. Their questions focused on modern production methods, the environmental footprint of crops, the consistent quality of products, and the particular characteristics of the Cooperative’s core codes. The exchange of views between the two sides strengthened the interest of the Chinese in the variety and potential of Sami wine in their country’s market.
At the end of the EUWINA program, which aimed to promote Greek wines in the Chinese market, the Chinese representatives said they were excited by both the hospitality and the tasting experience offered by Samos. Their trip to the “intoxicating” world of Sami Moschato ended with the best impressions, opening new prospects for the export of Sami wines to China.
This collaboration, which is part of the wider efforts to promote Greek wine internationally, is expected to bear fruit, strengthening the position of Samos as a leading producer of high quality wines.
