“Chinese HP Market: Huawei Dominates Sales Growth, Oppo and Xiaomi Struggle”

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia China is the country with the largest HP market in the world. It’s no wonder that HP manufacturers are competing to win the hearts of the people of the Bamboo Curtain country.

Unfortunately, HP’s global business has recently been sluggish due to unstable macroeconomic conditions. China is the same, where HP’s overall sales growth fell by 5% in Q1 2023 year-to-year (YoY).

Almost all Chinese cellphone manufacturers have experienced a decline in growth, except for Huawei. The giant grew 41% YoY with a market share of 9.2%.


Huawei occupies the 6th position in the ‘Top 7’ list of China’s largest mobile phone manufacturers. According to the Chief Technical Officer of the Consumer Business Group firm, Bruce Lee, there are two series of Huawei cellphones that have become the ‘saviors’ of the manufacturer.

The first mobile phone is the Huawei Mate X3 which is claimed to be the best selling cellphone in China. Furthermore, there is the P60 which is said to be the best-selling flagship segment cellphone during the first 3 months of 2023.

Other Chinese HP manufacturers have arrived

Throughout Q1 2023, Oppo was in 2nd place as the largest HP manufacturer in China. The vendor must be willing to experience a 3% reduction. Furthermore, Vivo in 3rd place also fell 15%.

Honor and Xiaomi are in 4th and 5th place respectively with a decrease of 18% and 14%. Meanwhile, Realme in 7th place fell 33%.

Apple is still the HP king in China with a market share of 19.9%. Apart from Huawei, only Apple whose business grew in Q1 2023 by 6%.
