Chinese Foreign Minister Discusses Palestinian-Israeli Conflict with US Secretary of State

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Saturday on the ongoing conflict between the Palestinians and Israel.

During the conversation held at the request of the US side, Blinken introduced his visit to the Middle East and explained Washington’s position on the conflict, according to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Mr. Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, declared on this occasion that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to intensify and risks “getting out of control”.

He reiterated that China opposes all acts that harm civilians and condemns all practices that violate international law, adding that safeguarding security cannot come at the expense of innocent civilians.

“Military means will lead nowhere, and countering violence with violence will only create a vicious circle,” Wang said.
