Jakarta –
Chinese fighter jets are reported to have crossed the defense zone like crazy Taiwan in the last 24 hours. Most recently, there were 21 Chinese fighter jets that infiltrated Taiwan.
As reported ReutersThursday (2/3/2023), Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense reported that at least 17 J-10 fighter jets and four J-16 fighter jets belonging to China were detected flying in the southwest corner of Taiwan’s air defense identification zone (ADIZ).
According to a map released by Taiwan’s Defense Ministry, the J-10 fighter jets were detected flying closer to the coast of China than Taiwan. Meanwhile, J-16 fighter jets flew to the northeast of the Taipei-controlled Pratas Islands.
Pratas is known to be in a strategic location at the top end of the South China Sea, and many Chinese planes are flying near it.
Taiwan’s military forces continue to monitor the situation. They also deployed their own military planes. Such moves are common in response to China’s aerial intrusion activity.
Previously, Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense, on Wednesday (1/3), reported that at least 19 Chinese fighter jets flew into its air defense zone.
However, it also noted that the Chinese fighter jets did not fly over the sensitive median line in the Taiwan Strait, which previously served as the unofficial barrier between the two countries.
Chinese Aircraft Pass Almost Every Day
Chinese Air Force aircraft are known to have flown across the median line almost every day since holding exercises near Taiwan last August.
Taipei authorities last reported Chinese military planes crossing the median line last Friday (24/2), which involved 10 military planes.
