Negotiations are at an advanced stage with the Chinese car company Dongfeng Motors with the foreign investment attraction unit Mimit to build a production plant in Italy which will be a hub for the whole of Europe. The project could also bring Italian companies into the parts sector and/or involve minorities. At the beginning of July, the Minister of Industry and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso met with the senior management of the Chinese company during his mission in Beijing to discuss investments in Italy.
The technical meetings, held in the last few days, have included the attractive unit of foreign investment Mimit and, according to what appears, both parties are very satisfied with the progress achieved so far, also thanks to the recent support from the Italian. and Chinese. In addition to the Urso mission at the beginning of July, it should be remembered that Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni went to China last week for an official mission on the side where a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy and China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technologies for bilateral business cooperation also on the subject of electric vehicles. The negotiations regarding the Dongfeng production site project in Italy are also aimed at the participation of Italian component companies and it is not excluded that there will be a minor participation by the State as well.
