Chinese Dissident Chen Siming Seeks Political Asylum in US or Canada, Urges Taiwan not to Deport Him

(AFP, Taipei, 22nd) Chinese dissident Chen Siming posted a video on a social platform today, stating that he is currently stranded at Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport, hoping to obtain political asylum in the United States or Canada, and hopes that Taiwan will not deport him back to China. .

Chen Siming said on social media I could no longer endure the destruction of my personality, the ravage on my dignity and the threats to my body, so I fled China on July 22.”

He mentioned: “On September 22, I finally came to Taiwan, the island of freedom. I will be forced to stay here illegally. Chen Siming urgently calls on friends to pay attention.”

According to the video, Chen Siming expressed his hope to obtain political asylum in the United States or Canada and hoped that the Taiwanese government would not deport him back to China.

Chen Siming is a dissident from Zhuzhou, Hunan. He holds placards to commemorate Tiananmen Square every year. Not only is he on the official blacklist, but he has also been arrested many times.
