Chinese Defense Minister Li Shanfu met today in Beijing with Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Nikolai Evmenov, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.
This is the first meeting of the two high-ranking military officers since the rebellion in Russia by fighters from the private military company “Wagner”.
Li Shanfu told Nikolai Evmenov that Beijing hopes for more interaction, joint exercises and other forms of cooperation with Moscow, China’s Defense Ministry said.
“The Chinese and Russian navies have close exchanges and often cooperate,” Li was quoted as saying by the ministry.
“We hope that the two sides will strengthen communication at all levels, regularly organize joint trainings, joint patrols and joint military maneuvers,” he also said.
