Chinese companies”minus Korean technologists’ is moving from LCD and semiconductor to OLED (organic light emitting diode), which is recently called a premium display. ▶ Hankyung.com December 5th’Provide a company house for 100 million won in salary… See’Chinese companies taking out Samsung and LG manpower’
This is because Chinese companies are well aware that the fastest way to catch up with the technology gap with the world’s top OLED companies in Korea is’reducing manpower’. In the 2000s, Chinese display companies such as BOE developed their skills through M&A of Korean companies and hiring large-scale Korean personnel. As a result, in 2018, it beat Samsung Display and LG Display and ranked first in the world in the large LCD field. It is to use the strategy used in LCD as it is in OLED.
Recently, at a request from a Chinese company, I asked two headhunters who are recruiting OLED engineers about the situation by phone. They confessed, “Chinese companies want people working at large companies such as Samsung, LG, or primary vendors,” and said, “However, it is not easy to scout key personnel from large domestic companies to China as requested by Chinese companies.”
Regarding the specifications of manpower moving to China, he explained, “People who are disappointed with Korean companies and organizations, people who have been pushed out of corporate politics, and people who want to send their children to international schools often move to China.”
Regarding employment stability, “There were people who came back to Korea after receiving a notification of termination of the contract after 1 year due to Corona 19, although they had a contract for 5 years,” he said. “It was obviously better than the past, but I promised to serve as an’adviser without retirement age.’ “There are a lot of people who get kicked out of the bay,” he said.
Below is the full interview. Headhunters said, “It’s a pity to destroy the careers and experiences of those who can continue to work enough,” and said that they wished not to wear sunglasses for headhunting work.
▶ Recently, there are many announcements for recruiting OLED experts from Chinese companies.
A: “It’s similar to the past LCD and semiconductor.”
▶ How do you connect with local Chinese companies?
B: “The company doesn’t do it directly. Chinese headhunters contact us.”
▶ What kind of manpower do you want?
A: “We want top-notch workforce, but there aren’t many people we can contact.”
B: “What I’ve been asked for is’unconditionally incumbent job’. OLED technologies like this change quickly. Retired people, those who have retired for a few years now have very little use in China. There should be something better than Chinese people. Do it.”
▶ Isn’t it burdensome to introduce it to a Chinese company?
A: “In Korea, people who have lost value can be treated as high-quality workforce in China. It is a pity to destroy old people’s careers and experiences.”
B: “I don’t want Koreans unconditionally. If you look for it, it includes Korea.”
▶ When it comes to OLED and semiconductors, you will still want Korean workers.
B: “That’s right.”
▶ Isn’t your gaze burdensome?
A: “People who have not worked in Korea, we also brought engineers from Japan before. It is similar.”

▶ Are there any concerns about technology leakage?
A: “A few years ago, there was a lot of demand for electric vehicle battery technicians. But the real core manpower in Korea was not going to go.”
▶ Mainly some people gossipniga.
A: “People who retire from large corporations and can no longer get a job, are older people.”
B: “In my case, I’m from a large company. I get a salary that I can’t get here, but not many times. People who are disappointed by their organization go.”
▶ Are you those who have been pushed out of promotion or are they?
B: “Yes. For example, I made a mistake while working, but the company doesn’t protect me. There were some people who were disappointed with this and said,’I would rather go to China than to be regretted.'”
▶ It would be unusual to find such people.
B: “I don’t think it’s even the engineers, but they all have in-house politics. Those who have been pushed by the wrong line, these people prepare for a job change. They also prepare carefully. They know it, and if you fail after changing a job, ‘ It’s Nakdong River duck egg’.”
▶ Some people go out because of their children’s education.
B: “There’s something like that because of children. I want to send an international school, but it’s impossible in Korea. But if I go to China, I can send an international school. We support tuition and all these things. All foreign students coming to Korea also pay for international school tuition. I’ll apply. It’s the same thing.”
▶ About Daewoo.
A: “In the past, I paid three times and five times the annual salary that I received. Then it shakes. Recently, it doesn’t seem like it was before. A general engineer adds 50% of the annual salary that I received if I give a lot.”
▶ In a recent announcement, you suggested that you pay more than 100 million won.
A: “It’s not actually a monthly salary. It’s a salary concept. Of course, there are other supports as well.”
▶ Less than known. (The CEO of an IT affiliate of the four major groups I recently met with a reporter told me that Chinese companies offer 10 times the annual salary to high-end Korean workers.)
A: “Actually, we don’t have access to top-notch technicians.
▶ Why is the salary level lower than in the past?
A: “I don’t know about OLED, but in the case of LCD, a lot of technology from Chinese companies came up. In the past, when I took battery manpower, I took everyone from LG Chem and Samsung SDI at random. Now I don’t pick the right person.” “
B: “4-5 years ago, I offered 4x 5x annual salary. But Chinese companies aren’t stupid. I started looking at the cost-performance ratio.”

▶ Are there any companies that Chinese companies want?
A: “Of course, it’s Samsung LG. For example, it can increase the process yield or significantly lower the cost, or you need advanced technology like that. Or, you criticize the first vendor of Samsung LG. I usually ask you to proceed in secret. It’s not easy to contact such people.”
▶ Are you satisfied with those who have gone there?
A: “There are a lot of people who don’t have fun.”
▶ The reason
A: “There are many cases where the annual salary is not given, unlike the first time I said, and it seems like I’m sending it out in the middle if I don’t have the skill to pull it out after taking it for 2 to 3 years.”
▶ Do Chinese companies run executives to Koreans?
B: “Not necessarily. It’s like a’torture’. Instead, it’s on the condition that there is no retirement age.”
▶ Does Corona 19 have any effect on job change?
A: “Around me, there are people who signed a five-year contract and came out after one year. They said that the contract was terminated due to Corona 19. The Gyeonggi Province was bad and they said they couldn’t afford to use high-quality human resources.”
B: “As for the semiconductor side, Korea is an advanced country. I decided to go to the semiconductor side at the end of last year, but there is an issue that was held earlier this year because of Corona 19. In addition, there are some people who can’t get out because of a’technology leak’ in Korea when lawsuits are reported. “
