Chinese College Student Murdered by Boyfriend: Sentenced to Death and Executed

A 21-year-old female college student surnamed Li in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China lost contact 3 years ago. After police investigation, they believed that her boyfriend and others were suspected, so they arrested the relevant persons, and then found the female college student’s body in the suburban forest. The father of the female college student called the police on July 12, 2022, saying that his daughter who graduated from college had lost contact. After careful investigation, the police believed that the female college student’s boyfriend Hong Qiao and others were suspected of major crimes. On August 3, they arrested Hong Qiao, Zhang Chenguang, Cao Zeqing and other suspects also found the body of the female college student on the same day, which was buried in the forest on the outskirts of Menghai County.

The police pointed out that the criminal suspect Hong Qiao conspired with Zhang Chenguang and Cao Zeqing in Nanjing. Zhang Chenguang and Cao Zeqing went to Menghai County to lure the female college student to a mountain forest to kill and bury her body on the night of July 9.

The court found that Hong Qiao and the female college student were in a couple relationship, and they had long regarded themselves as “members of the national security department”. Cao Zeqing discussed and formulated a murder plan many times. The three selected Pu’er Tea Park as the location of the crime on July 6, 2020. Hong Qiao seduced his girlfriend and provided funds and crime tools at the same time. He led Zhang Chenguang and Cao Zeqing to practice the killing method many times, and explained the details of the crime and the requirements for regular returns. A group of people succeeded in killing people as planned.

In the end, the court sentenced Hong Qiao to the crime of intentional homicide and the crime of theft and punished him for several crimes. He decided to execute the death penalty, deprived him of political rights for life, and fined him 10,000 yuan.
