Chinese Automobile Industry to Flood the World with 200 Large-Capacity Truck Carriers by 2026

The Chinese automobile industry is going to “flood” the world with its production, so by 2026, 200 large-capacity truck carriers will be built, which will deliver them to all the world’s ports.

The German media is not without concern about this today, reporting about the first BYD company’s “Explorer No.1” car carrier, which has moored in the port of Bremen. The 200-meter-long ship with a capacity of up to 7,000 cars has arrived on its maiden voyage, bringing 3,000 cars, mostly electric cars, but this is just the beginning.

BYD plans a total of eight carriers to deliver products from China to Europe, but the media reports a significantly higher number, citing as many as 200 Ro-Ro vessels ordered by Chinese automakers from shipbuilders.

Wirtshafts Woche writes that manufacturers such as BYD, Chery, Geely and Nio have been building and developing huge car factories in their homeland for years. Some of them are so big that they overshadow even the “world powers” of Volkswagen and others. This has created a huge overcapacity in the country, especially in the electric car segment. Such a large quantity cannot be absorbed even by the Chinese market, so outlets are being sought all over the world, and new Ro-Ro vessels are needed to deliver the finished product to the farthest corners of the planet.

Currently, there is a huge shortage of such transport ships, so by 2026, 200 car carriers will be built in China, with half of them intended for Chinese customers.
