The two archaeological sites include the ruins of Zhuqiu Temple in Zhoukou. and the ancient city ruins in Xinmi City It was built during the Xia Dynasty (2070-1600 BC), and the newest discoveries provide more information about the activities and buildings of that era.

Li added that the new discovery may enhance people’s understanding of the ancient city’s layout. and is an important evidence for studying the origin and development of buildings in the Xia Dynasty.
The second new discovery is in the area of the Juqiu Temple ruins. Archaeologists working here since 2022 have unearthed more than 100 artefacts, including the remains of cinder pits, ditches and buildings. This settlement dates back to the late Longshan Culture and the Xia Dynasty.
The report said that some of the most important finds from the temple ruins were the remains of two circular structures consisting of clay pillars and rammed earth masonry walls that were used to store grain. It is similar in age and structure to granaries from the early Xia Dynasty.
