WASHINGTON – A leaked Navy intelligence report United States of America (USA) revealed a surprising fact regarding manufacturing competition warship with China . The report states that China’s warship manufacturing capacity is 200 times greater than that of the US.
According to The War Zone, an online bulletin, leaked US Navy briefing slides containing this information circulated online last July. In a slide entitled “PLAN vs. USN Naval Force Laydown” and apparently marked “unclassified” China’s shipbuilding capacity is 232 times greater than that of the US.
According to the data shown on the slide, Chinese shipyards have a production capacity of more than 23.2 million tons. This amount is 232 times greater than the US production capacity of less than 100,000 tons.
This shift also appears to contrast the composition of the combat forces of both navies, taking into account battleships, submarines, mine warfare ships, large amphibious ships, and large auxiliary support warships.
A US Navy spokesperson told Fox News Digital in an article published on September 14 that the briefing slides were genuine.
The spokesperson said the slides provide context and trends regarding China’s shipbuilding capacity, but cautioned that the Navy does not intend to read it as a comprehensive “deep dive” into China’s commercial shipbuilding industry.
“These slides were developed by the Office of Naval Intelligence from various public sources as part of an overall summary regarding strategic competition,” the spokesperson said as quoted by InsiderFriday (15/9/2023).
China has worked hard to strengthen its naval capabilities. According to a 2021 US Naval Institute report, the country has the largest navy in the world, with more than 355 ships in its fleet.
