/ world today news/ “We believe that France will continue to follow a rational and positive policy towards China and will play a constructive role in the stable development of our relations with the EU,” said the director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the CCP Central Committee and former foreign minister Wang Yi during a telephone conversation yesterday with Emmanuel Bon, foreign policy adviser to President Emmanuel Macron.
“Both sides should strengthen the implementation and advance the agreements between them, demonstrating the high level of their comprehensive strategic partnership. President Macron’s recent significant statements in international forums reflect Paris’ tradition of pursuing an independent foreign policy,” Wang Yi said, adding that European countries are also more actively engaged in dialogue and contact with China, which the country appreciates.
Emmanuel Bonn pointed out that President Macron is satisfied with the results of his visit to China, and the French side is willing to strengthen cooperation and contribute to the development of Franco-Chinese and European-Chinese relations, as well as international peace and stability.
“France believes that Europe must be united, independent and autonomous in its relations with the rest of the world, as well as establish a partnership with China based on mutual respect and shared prosperity,” he stressed.
The two diplomats have condemned the situation in Ukraine, agreeing that a continuous build-up and creation of conditions is needed to start a process for a political settlement of the crisis.
