Jakarta –
In mid-2023, it has been noted that there are not a few manufacturers from China who will certainly ‘hold the mat’ and sell pure electric cars in Indonesia. At the same time, the general charging infrastructure is still not massive.
One brand that focuses on selling electric cars says this is not a problem. According to Vice President of Neta Overseas and President Director of PT Neta Auto Indonesia, Wang Chengjie, similar conditions also occurred in China several years ago.
“The charging ecosystem is not a problem. This has been proven in China five to six years ago. This is the same as what happened in China,” Chengjie said some time ago.

“But in the end this problem was solved. Many people bought (electric vehicles) and made many investors invest in charging stations,” he continued.
In terms of pursuing the volume of electric car users in the country, these manufacturers from China have a strategy to focus on selling cheap electric cars.
It was proven that at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (2023), it was noted that several electric cars from China were offered at affordable prices. Starting from Neta V, Wuling Air EV Lite, to Seres E1.
“A pure electric car must be as cheap as a car with an ICE (combustion engine). Because all products must be sold to pursue more volume,” continued Chengjie.
“When we want to contribute more to society, then the product must be affordable. This is our mission, strategy, or understanding that we have. Neta has a mission to be able to provide pure electric vehicles to everyone, not only for the rich,” he said.
Apart from being sure that the infrastructure will develop, Neta also has faith in the buyer market in Indonesia. According to him, rapid economic growth has made them believe in this market.
“So we are very confident about the Indonesian (market). In this case, which has economic growth, progress is peaking. We are sure that pure electric cars have a market here and are very optimistic about the market here,” he concluded.
