Steel production increased by 1.7% year-on-year, and steel exports increased by nearly 32% year-on-year. The growth of steel exports and the rising demand for steel in domestic manufacturing have become our main driving forces supporting the growth of steel production.
In the first three quarters, energy conservation and emission reduction in my country’s steel industry have steadily advanced, and environmental protection levels have continued to improve. According to statistics from the China Iron and Steel Association, in the first three quarters, the total wastewater discharged by member steel companies fell by 9.34% year-on-year, chemical oxygen demand emissions fell by 18.59% year-on-year, ammonia nitrogen emissions fell by 21.63% year-on-year, sulfur dioxide emissions fell by 14.92% year-on-year, and particulate matter emissions fell by 14.92% year-on-year. Emissions fell by 14.88% year-on-year.

With many transformation measures, the endogenous driving force for development continues to increase, and the high-quality development of steel has achieved positive results.
In terms of high-endization, since the beginning of this year, the demand for high-end steel products has continued to increase, and the number of steel varieties used in manufacturing industries such as ships, automobiles, and home appliances, as well as in emerging industries such as wind power and photovoltaics, has continued to grow. In terms of export varieties, hot-rolled coils and medium-thick plates have seen significant growth, and the proportion of exports of high value-added products has increased significantly.

At present, steel companies have launched the research and development of 53 cutting-edge low-carbon technologies in the world, and some have made breakthrough progress.
In terms of intelligence, at present, the application density of robots in my country’s steel industry has reached 54 units per 10,000 people, and 90% of steel companies have established production execution and energy management and control systems. Steel companies actively promote the deep integration of new generation information and communication technologies such as digitalization and intelligence with the entire steel manufacturing process, achieving improved production efficiency, improved quality stability, and reduced employee labor intensity.
