MOSCOW, March 3 (Xinhua) — The Chinese government’s special representative for Eurasian affairs, Li Hui, arrived in Moscow on Saturday evening to begin a second round of shuttle diplomacy over the Ukraine crisis.
Li met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin and the two exchanged in-depth views on China-Russia relations and the Ukraine crisis.
The two diplomats noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, as well as the 2024-2025 China-Russia cultural years. They agreed to fundamentally follow the major consensus established by the two heads of state and encourage the development of bilateral relations.
Mr. Li pointed out that two years have passed since the full escalation of the Ukrainian crisis. History shows that ultimately, conflicts must be resolved through dialogue and negotiation. The more serious the problem, the more important it is not to abandon efforts at dialogue.
China is ready to continue its efforts to promote peace talks, carry out shuttle diplomacy, play the role of mediator, develop consensus among Russia, Ukraine and other relevant parties, and encourage a final political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.
Mr. Galouzin agreed that the crisis must be finally resolved through negotiations, and he applauded China’s unique and constructive role in this regard.
He welcomed China’s second round of shuttle diplomacy and expressed hope for continuing to strengthen communication with China. END
