China is releasing a space program in the next five years.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEIJING—China’s next five years in space may be busier than the previous five. On Friday (28/1/2022), the country released a white paper outlining its plans and priorities for the next half-decade of aviation and space exploration.
China has achieved a lot recently, from returning lunar samples to Earth to starting assembly of a space station, and the document explains that the country plans to continue that success.
“In the next five years, China will integrate space science, technology and applications while pursuing a new development philosophy, building new development models and meeting the requirements for high-quality development,” the white paper, called “China’s Space Program: A 2021,” reads. Perspective” or China’s Space Program: 2021 Perspective, reported from Space, Sunday (30/1/2022)
“This will start a new journey towards [menjadi] extraterrestrial power,” the document’s authors wrote. “The space industry will contribute more to China’s overall growth, to the global consensus and joint efforts related to space exploration and utilization and human progress,” he said.
China launched 207 space missions from 2016 to December 2021, the white paper notes. That’s an impressive tally, but the country isn’t content with its current stable of launch vehicles.
