China’s semiconductor export restrictions, “I want to consider handling responsibly”-Prime Minister Kishida-Bloomberg

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who is visiting the United States, said at a press conference on the 14th (15th Japan time) that he would like to consider the handling of semiconductors responsibly when asked about export restrictions on semiconductors to China. As for the specific response, he said, “I will refrain from saying anything definitively right now.”

Prime Minister Kishida explained that the National Security Strategy, which was revised last December, clearly states economic security and emphasizes it. He said that semiconductors are important materials related to security, and he said, “We have to consider how to handle them while maintaining close communication with our allies and comrades.”
