Chinese President Xi Jinping announced, on Tuesday, during a state visit to Russia, that he had invited his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to visit China this year, in an indication of the strength of the ties between the two countries, which are facing tension with the West.
“Yesterday, I invited President Putin to visit China this year at his convenience,” Xi said during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin before starting a second round of talks with the Russian president, according to Russian news agencies.
The Chinese president stressed that he chose to visit Russia first because it constitutes with his country the largest forces and strategic partners, noting that the new prime minister of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China will give priority to developing partnership with Russia.
In his meeting with Mishustin, Xi called for intensifying the work of government mechanisms of Russia and China this year.
The statements of the Russian Prime Minister came as follows:
