Chinese hospitals will be located in several places in the country flooded with sick children. This is reported by ProMed, a surveillance monitor that maps outbreaks of diseases among people and animals worldwide. It is a mysterious form of pneumonia.

The latest reports show that hospitals in both the capital Beijing and Liaoning, more than 800 kilometers away, are having difficulty accommodating all the sick children. Many of the patients who are brought in need to be admitted. They are all infected with a so-called walking pneumonia, or atypical pneumonia. For example, patients hardly suffer from coughing, but they do have high fever and cold symptoms.

Although it is still too early to speak of a new epidemic, ProMed warns that there is a “widespread respiratory disease” that is not yet fully known. It is not yet clear when the disease emerged or where, but ProMed calls it “highly unusual” that so many children become infected so quickly. Several schools in the affected areas are calling on students not to come to school if they exhibit symptoms. It is not known whether adults have also become infected.

It was ProMed that reported a mysterious virus called Sars-Cov-2 in 2019, alerting many doctors and scientists and the World Health Organization (WHO) to the virus. Not much later, the world was suffering from the corona pandemic.
