Jakarta –
Military budget China reached 1.55 trillion Yuan or if converted to IDR 3.432 trillion. Fantastic figure for a country’s military budget.
China is increasing its military budget to prevent threats from escalating. Reported by Channel New Asia, Monday (6/3), the matter of the budget was conveyed by Prime Minister (PM) Li Keqiang when speaking before the delegates of the National People’s Congress (NPC) during a meeting in Beijing since Sunday (5/3).
The announcement of an increase in military spending comes as China’s leaders are targeting economic growth of around 5 percent for the coming year — one of the lowest targets in decades.
Military Training Intensified
According to the Chinese government, China is currently under more and more pressure. China also asked for intensified military training.
“The Armed Forces must intensify military training and readiness in all fields,” Li stressed in his statement.
“The military must dedicate greater energy to training in combat conditions, and make well-coordinated efforts to strengthen military performance in all directions and regions,” he said.
The increase in defense spending for the year marked the eighth consecutive single-digit increase. As in previous years, no further details regarding China’s military budget were disclosed to the public, only the total amount and the amount of the increase were stated.
