Much does not leak out from the plenary sessions in Beijing: 371 members of the CP Central Committee have been meeting since Monday to discuss the future of the People’s Republic. But one thing has already leaked: At the end of the four-day session, a historic resolution should be passed – that would be the third in the history of the Communist Party. This also divides the history of China since 1949 into three parts: the phase under Mao from the founding of the People’s Republic from 1949 to 1976; the reform period under Deng Xiaoping until 2012; and the “era of national rejuvenation” under incumbent President Xi Jinping.
