This year, the Great Wall will launch its first hydrogen fuel cell SUV models and a fleet of 100 hydrogen trucks, said FT Tian Energy Technology chief Chang Tian-yu. The company is a division of Great Wall for hydrogen-powered cars.

Great Wall chief Wei Jianjun added that over the next three years, the carmaker will invest three billion yuan (CZK 10.1 billion) in hydrogen-related technologies.

Great Wall is the largest pickup truck manufacturer in China, selling 1.11 million cars last year. It also manufactures electric cars and builds a factory for electric cars with BMW.

China is the world’s largest car market. Last year, it introduced support for hydrogen cars and called on local governments and companies to create more advanced supply chains and business models for the sector. Great Wall’s competitors include Toyota Motor, Hyundai Motor and Geely, which also develop their own hydrogen-powered cars, Reuters reported.
