China dealt a painful blow to Russia by stopping the supply of new drones to the Russian Federation from the beginning of September, dialog.ua reports.
As of September 1, China has introduced export restrictions on unmanned aerial vehicles weighing 4 kg and more that can be used for military purposes – for this reason, Russian manufacturers have faced a shortage of drones and their parts, writes the Russian publication “Kommersant”.
In the Russian Federation, the supply of unmanned aerial vehicles with a maximum take-off weight of 7 kg and a flight duration of more than 30 minutes has been discontinued. Drones capable of “carrying cargo with a landing function or the ability to attach such a device” are also banned.
Now, in order to supply even spare parts, Chinese companies must obtain a permit from the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, which proves that the final recipient is not subject to Western sanctions and will not use drones in the war against Ukraine – the review of such permits can take up to a year. In addition, if the exporter from China violates the license requirements, he faces administrative liability, and in case of intentional violation, criminal liability.
Several Russian drone manufacturers that work with foreign parts have already warned that drone prices will rise by at least 20%.
