Beijing, December 16, 2023 (Xinhua) – Official data issued by the National Energy Authority last Friday showed a noticeable growth in the volume of electric energy consumption in China during the month of November, which is a key measure of economic activity.
The authority indicated that energy consumption increased by 11.6 percent compared to last year, reaching 763 billion kilowatt-hours last month.
The volume of energy consumption in the agricultural sector increased by 12.2 percent on an annual basis, while its counterpart in the industrial and services sectors increased by 9.8 percent and 20.9 percent on an annual basis, respectively.
At the same time, the volume of electrical energy consumption in homes increased by 10 percent year on year, reaching 93.6 billion kilowatt-hours.
During the period between last January and November, the volume of electricity consumption in China increased by 6.3 percent on an annual basis, reaching about 8.4 trillion kilowatt-hours.
