China’s easing of ‘Zero Corona’ rules already tested, infections rise – Bloomberg

China reported 15,525 new cases on Thursday, surpassing 10,000 for the fourth consecutive day. This was the highest level since late April when Shanghai was in the midst of a severe lockdown. Guangdong, Henan, Beijing, Chongqing and Inner Mongolia continue to experience high numbers of new infections.

The city of Beijing announced 404 new cases on Monday, up from 230 the day before. The number has increased rapidly since earlier this month, when it was in the 20s. Guangzhou has 4,065 people and the lockdown in Panyu and Liwan districts has been extended to 16.
