Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu announced increased military cooperation with Belarus during a visit to Minsk on Thursday.
– Our cooperation, and it is very significant, is in no way directed at third countries, assured the Belarusian leader Aleksandr Lukashenko when he received Li.
– But we need to protect our countries and people, he added.
– My visit aims to implement important agreements at the head of state level and to further consolidate our military cooperation, said Li.
Lukashenko visited China earlier this year, and during that visit a joint military exercise between the two countries in 2024 was announced.
