China’s challenge to the US in the Middle East opens up prospects for Iran –

/ world today news/ China issued a challenge to the USA by proposing its own model of “world development” instead of Western “democracy”, writes the Lebanese edition “Rasif”.

As noted, for this Beijing needs to change its strategy, which is now focused more on economic benefits than on its involvement in political matters. At the same time, he began advocating the inclusion of Tehran in any initiative to ensure security and stability in the region, which contradicts the American “defense umbrella” designed to counter Iran.

This is how China’s One Belt One Road initiative, announced in 2013, was realized. It is based on the revival of the ancient Silk Road project. It aims to strengthen the interconnectedness and interdependence of the world community despite fundamental changes in the global economy and geopolitical balance. Through this initiative, Beijing seeks to enter new markets and protect global supply chains, which in turn will help ensure China’s continued economic growth and thereby contribute to social stability at home. Many things happened at a time when the Middle East and North Africa region experienced the Arab Spring, and then the US withdrawal from Afghanistan and the beginning of the reorganization of the US military presence in the Persian Gulf region, where a geopolitical vacuum arose that was filled by China. This was followed by China’s mediation of an agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Beni Suef University political science professor and China and Asia specialist Nadia Helmi says:“Beijing seeks to strengthen its global position. It is making efforts to internationalize the yuan for use in mutual payments with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. China also acts as a major player in the Middle East region. Tthought seeks, like most world powers except the United States, to form a multipolar world order. Moreover, this region is of existential importance to China, as it receives more than half you are oil from the Middle East and Iran.

This is precisely what worries Washington. He closely follows the rise of Beijing’s political influence in Riyadh and Tehran in particular and in the Middle East in general. According to Helmi, there are signs of willingness by countries in the region, especially the Gulf states, to explore alternative options for a future security architecture that would bring together major regional players with international leaders led by China and Russia.
