Held annually at the end of Lent, the fundraiser focuses on raising funds for disaster-affected areas and social emergencies.
This year bishops, priests, consecrated persons and laity have actively contributed to the fundraising. Substantial contributions were reported from economically disadvantaged regions such as Jiangsu, Shaanxi, Guizhou and Shandong provinces.
The Shanghai Diocese linked the collection to Mercy Sunday, emphasizing the connection between works of mercy and the message of St. Faustina. By April 8, the Shanghai Diocese had collected nearly 530,000 yuan from parishes and nursing homes.
The commitment of Chinese Catholic communities to support those in financial need through collections reflects their dedication to sanctification and their love for God and people.
Transparency in the use of funds collected has ensured continued support for various relief projects, including those responding to floods, earthquakes and other disasters in China, Taiwan, Guatemala and Indonesia.
