Faxcarne | China Customs reported that beef imports in August totaled 270 thousand tons at a value of US$ 1.39 billion. The large volume that arrived in China in July and August is related to the 374 thousand tons shipped from Mercosur in the May-June two-month period.
The decrease in shipments from Mercosur in July (156 thousand tons) will surely reduce the volume that is arriving at its destination in September.
In the first eight months of 2023, 1.79 million tons of beef entered China for US$9.6 billion, with a decrease of 2.6% in volume and 26.3% in dollars.
