TAIPEI – China accuse United States of America (US) change Taiwan became an “munitions depot” after the White House announced a military aid package worth USD 345 million or around IDR 5.1 trillion for Taipei.
China’s Taiwan Affairs Office issued a statement against military aid to Taiwan, which China claims as its own territory.
“No matter how much ordinary people’s taxpayer money…Taiwan separatist forces spend, no matter how many US weapons, it will not shake our determination to solve the Taiwan problem. Or shake our strong desire to realize the reunification of our homeland,” said Taiwan Affairs Office spokesman Chen Binhua.
“Their actions turned Taiwan into a powder keg and ammunition depot, exacerbating the threat of war in the Taiwan Strait,” the statement continued. APSunday (30/7/2023).
China’s People’s Liberation Army has stepped up its military maneuvers in recent years aimed at Taiwan, sending fighter jets and warships to circle the island.
On Sunday, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said it had tracked six Chinese navy vessels near the island.
Taiwan’s ruling government, led by the Democratic Progressive Party, has increased its weapons purchases from the US as part of its deterrence strategy against a Chinese invasion.
