/ world today news/ China’s foreign trade in the first half of the year grew by 2.1% on an annual basis. Customs statistics show that for the first time in history, it also exceeded 20 trillion yuan in the mentioned period.
Trade in goods for the first and second quarters was 9.76 trillion and 10.34 trillion yuan, respectively, with both indicators showing positive annual growth.
China’s foreign trade structure continues to be optimized. Total exports of electric vehicles, lithium batteries and photovoltaic cells increased by 61.6%, resulting in overall export growth of 1.8 percentage points.
During the same period, China’s trade with the European Union amounted to 2.75 trillion yuan, an increase of 1.9% year-on-year, and that with the Belt and Road Initiative countries grew by 9.8% on annual basis and represents 34.3% of the total value of the country’s imports and exports.
