Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said on Thursday at the regular press conference in Beijing that China is ready to work with the American side to advance the important consensus reached at the Bali meeting between Chinese and US leaders , to implement and promote the humanistic exchange and interpersonal contacts. The goal is to create a solid foundation of public opinion for a healthy and stable development of relations between the two countries, said the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman.
On the Syrian issue, Mao Ning said that China attaches great importance to the Astana Mechanism and is ready to work with all relevant parties to bring peace and stability to Syria. That was Mao’s response to comments by the Russian president’s special envoy for Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, on Wednesday that China’s participation in the Astana Mechanism will spur mediation and reconstruction in Syria.
