Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang emphasized to Lahbib that he wants to expand cooperation between the two countries in various areas and also increase the exchange of personnel. In addition, China wants Belgium to continue to offer Chinese companies a fair and non-discriminatory business climate, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
Qin is said to have advocated for a comprehensive strategic partnership and to have spoken out against the politicization or weaponization of economic and trade issues. Furthermore, Qin also wants to cooperate with Belgium to maintain global production and supply chains, so as to promote the long-term stable growth of China-Europe relations.
Lahbib confirms the telephone conversation with Qin on Twitter and reports that the conversation also concerned human rights and the Taiwan issue.
