A Chinese military plane and a US Air Force plane have come dangerously close. The Chinese plane flew within 6 meters of the American one, forcing it to take evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision in international airspace above the South China Sea.
That’s how the US military described the situation on Thursday. A video released by the US Department of Defense shows the encounter between the two military planes on December 21st. According to the ministry, this is not an isolated case, but is increasingly becoming a dangerous trend.
Australia also has problems with Chinese fighters
In a meeting with his Chinese counterpart in November, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin pointed to what he called dangerous behavior by Chinese military aircraft. And also the need to improve crisis communication.
The Australian Ministry of Defense speaks of similar incidents with Chinese fighter jets.
