China urges Russia to cooperate with US

MOSCOW – Beijing representatives in Moscow believe that China and Russia must cooperate against Western pressure. It says United States of America (The US) puts pressure on China and Russia on all fronts, and the two must continue to deepen strategic cooperation on all fronts.

Speaking to the Izvestia newspaper, China’s Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui said that working together was essential to counter US and Western pressure.

“The US, along with its Western allies, is putting pressure on China and Russia on all fronts: political, economic, military, humanitarian, security, science and technology,” he said.

“In response to such open hegemony and power politics, we must continue to deepen mutually beneficial strategic cooperation,” he continued as quoted by Russia Today, Friday (12/31/2021).

In addition, the diplomat stressed, Western countries exercise “extraterritorial jurisdiction” and arbitrarily impose sanctions on government institutions, companies and personnel of the two countries in an attempt to hinder their development.

On December 15, during a videoconference with the President of China Xi Jinping , President of Russia Vladimir Putin described their relationship as a model for true cooperation in the 21st century. In recent years, as the two countries have become more hostile to the US, the two leaders have grown closer, with Xi Jinping even once referring to Putin as his “friend.”

Earlier this month, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Beijing was fully committed to maintaining mutually beneficial relations with Moscow.

“No matter what changes occur in the world, the Sino-Russian friendship that has been passed down from generation to generation will always be strong,” he said.
