China has urged both Russia and Ukraine to quickly resume grain exports after Russia pulled out of the grain deal earlier this week.
China’s UN ambassador, Geng Shuang, made the call in the UN Security Council on Friday.
– China hopes that those affected will cooperate with UN bodies to find a balanced solution to the legitimate concerns of all parties, Geng said at the meeting, according to Chinese state media.
He further said that this was necessary to ensure global food security.
Russia earlier this week withdrew from the grain agreement, which since last summer has enabled Ukraine to safely export grain via a corridor in the Black Sea.
