China unveils blueprint for deep space exploration, including moon, asteroids, comets and planets

HEFEI, April 26 (Xinhua) — China has drawn up a blueprint for the development of deep space exploration in the future, including exploration of the moon, asteroids, comets and other planets in our solar system.

Last Tuesday at the International Deep Space Exploration Conference held in Hefei, capital of east China’s Anhui Province, Wu Yanhua, chief designer of the main project for deep space exploration, said that China will launch the “Qiuqiao-2” or “Magpie Bridge” relay satellite. -2″, and the Chang’e-6 probe in around 2024 to collect samples from the far side of the moon and return them to Earth.

Wu said China plans to launch the Chang’e-7 probe around 2026 to carry out resource exploration of the lunar south pole, and launch the Chang’e-8 probe around 2028 to build the basic model of the International Lunar Research Station.

China plans to launch the Tianwen-2 mission around 2025 to collect samples from a near-Earth asteroid and explore the main belt comet.

Wu also noted that China plans to launch the Tianwen-3 mission around 2030 to collect samples from Mars, and launch the Tianwen-4 mission around 2030 to explore the Jovian system and Uranus.

In the past 20 years, China has successfully implemented a three-step lunar exploration program and achieved sending a probe into orbit, landing and roving on Mars in one mission.
