China Trials Visa Exemptions for Six Countries – Is Indonesia Included? Updates from Jakarta

Jakarta

China made a breakthrough at the end of the year by trialling visa exemptions for six countries. Countries from Europe to Asia are on the list, is there Indonesia?

Reporting from BBC on Friday (24/11), China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs was testing travel visa free from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Malaysia. Unfortunately, there is no Indonesian name.

This trial will be implemented from December to November 30 2024. Passport holders from these 6 countries can do business or travel without a visa for 15 days.

“This is to help promote China’s high-quality development and openness,” said spokesman Mao Ning.

In the pandemic era, China appears to be careful in opening the country’s borders. The bamboo curtain country only opened all types of visas last March since December 2019.

For 3 years, China has been one of the countries with the strictest borders in the world. There are a number of lockdowns in place and ongoing requirements.

When the world started to dare to open borders, China instead implemented a zero Covid policy. This caused the economy to parachute. This policy was only revoked last December.
