Foreign athletes who have come to China for training and pre-Olympic test competitions have already made sure that the organizers have not made any compromises in the implementation of various sanitary requirements. However, border crossing requirements are expected to become even stricter.
The Chinese Immigration Administration has been instructed to set up special zones where strict epidemiological requirements will be put in place for screening people who have come to the Olympics or are going home. For their part, the NIA called on Chinese people to refrain from traveling abroad.
Local employees of the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as Chinese athletes, will be required to receive an additional dose of Covid-19 vaccine. For athletes from other countries and members of delegations, an additional dose of the vaccine will be desirable, but not mandatory, said Juan Chun, Deputy Director of the Pandemic Prevention and Control Bureau of the Beijing Winter Olympics Steering Committee.
Organizers already previously published guidelines informed that only persons vaccinated against Covid-19 will be able to go to their internal security immediately upon arrival for the winter games, while others will first have to stay in strict quarantine for 21 days.
The Winter Olympics in Beijing in 2022 will take place from February 4 to 20.
